Beginner Kayaking Courses

At Adventure Elements we use qualified and experienced coaches to make sure you get the best from the course. We also recognize that most effective learning takes place when you feel safe and comfortable. We therefore strive to create a relaxed, safe and enjoyable environment for you to learn to kayak or canoe in. All of our equipment is up to date, high quality and maintained to the highest standards.

All of our courses run on low student to instructor ratios so there will never be more than five students to one instructor.

1 Day Kayaking Taster
Previous experience - None
An action packed day aimed at those with little or no experience of kayaking. The emphasis of the day will be on learning and fun. Our qualified coaches will go through everything you need to know to get you afloat in a kayak. This course will take place on one of the beautiful placid lakes or sheltered beaches that North Wales has on offer.

1 Day Sea Kayaking Taster
Previous experience - None
Discover for yourself why sea kayaking is rapidly growing in popularity. Paddle along the stunning North Wales coast under the watchful eye of our qualified coaches. With your safety being paramount we will guide you through some of the skills needed to handle a sea kayak. Enjoy a relaxing journey where you will see cliffs, birdlife and maybe even a few seals.

1 Day Open Canoe Taster
Previous experience - None
Canoeing is one of the best ways to relax on the water. Enjoy the age old skill of open boating with the stunning mountains of Snowdonia as your backdrop. Learn to paddle in the comfort and relative dryness of a canoe. We will take you to one of North Wales tranquil lakes and our coaches will help you with the skills needed to safely and confidently paddle your craft.

Open Canoe Optional Extra.
Why not end your days canoeing with a fantastic overnight bivvy out under the stars. Enjoy the satisfaction of cooking a meal over an open fire and talking about the days antics while toasting marshmallows. We provide all food and maybe even some entertainment.

Half Day Family Kayak Fun Sessions
Previous experience - None
Aimed at families these half day sessions have two main goals, having fun and getting wet. Our coaches will run through the basics to get you going in your kayak and then it's into the water for some exploring and games.

2 Day Introduction to Sea Kayaking
Previous experience -None
What better place to learn to sea kayak than the stunning North Wales Coast, home to bird and seal colonies and huge sea cliffs. This two day course will integrate coaching skills with some classic sea kayak day trips. Our coaches will look at your boat handling skills, rescue techniques, trip planning and we will even advise you on equipment. By the end of the course you will have a real thirst for more adventure.

2 Day Introduction to Moving Water
Previous experience - Kayak Taster/1 days kayaking
Feeling the call of the Rapid? Want to improve your confidence in moving water? North Wales is fortunate enough to have a range of excellent white water coaching venues. Over the two days we will look at white water boat handling skills, basic rescues, river features and equipment. By the end of the course you will know your breakouts from your ferry glides.

5 Day White Water, Sea and Surf
Previous experience - None
Get ready for an action packed week, from beach to rapid and from wave to eddy this course will have it all. Not sure which field of kayaking to get into? Then try some of kayakings most popular disciplines. Our coaches will take you to some of North Wales top kayaking spots and coach you on the skills needed to run the rapid and surf the shoulder. With your safety our priority we cover a wide range of techniques and skills all with served with a large helping of fun.

2 Day Sea Kayak Improvers
Previous experience - Intro to sea kayaking or equivalent.
If you have completed an introduction to sea kayaking and are looking for the next step then this is the course for you. We will look at more advanced boat handling skills and give you the opportunity to start planning your own trips. Ticking off more of North Wales classic trips you will be given the chance to try your hand at rock hopping and maybe some surfing.There will also be the opportunity to learn to roll in a swimming pool.

2 Day Female only Introduction to Sea Kayaking

A two day course aimed at women only. This course will cover all aspects of learning to kayak from boat handling skills to rescues and trip planning. Our priority is to create a comfortable and safe learning environment that will inspire confidence. We will integrate some fantastic trips on sections of the stunning North Wales Coast. This course is promised to be action packed and will hopefully give you a thirst to come back for more.
