Ecology for Sea Kayakers

Broaden your knowledge of the marine environment. From birds to seaweed and from plants to geology, these two days will serve to enrich your sea kayaking experiences. This course is being run in association with Jim Langley from Natures Work, Jim is a highly experienced ecologist with a broad and indepth knowledge of the marine environment. As much of the course will be delivered on the water in sea kayaks. A great course for guides and instructors aswell as recreational paddlers.

Going It Alone

A courses aimed at individuals, couples, groups or friends who what to make the break from paddling as part of a lead group or with an instructor to getting out under their own steam. This course will give you the tools to safely plan trips, how to read the water, dealing with rescues, launching and landing in rougher conditions and decision making on the water. Students will be given the opportunity to plan there own trip. The main outcome of this course is to give students the skills, confidence and awareness to get out paddling and enjoy the sea safely.

The Best of Anglesey - Guided Sea Kayak Journeys

Two days of guided sea kayak trips where we aim to show you the best Anglesey has to offer. This is a non instructional course (although we will always share our top tips) aimed to take people to some of the best kayaking spots on the island on fantastic day trips. Weather dependent trips could include paddling under the enormous sea cliffs at South Stack, the drama and feeling of remoteness on the North Coast, amazing rockhoping and sea cliffs at Rhoscolyn, thousands of Sea birds on Puffin Island and Tidal Crossing to offshore islands the Skerries. This courses is aimed at people with some sea kayaking experience and we recomend that you at about 3 star standard, have paddled distances of up to 10 miles and paddled in force 4 winds. Discover Sea Kayaking

This two day course will introduce you to all the basics of sea kayaking. Boat handling skills, safety, weather, tides, and plenty of time out on the water will make sure your first steps in to the sport are exciting and informative. Our coaches will guide you through a series of skills allowing you to develop good techniques from square one; all this will be combined with journeys along the stunning Anglesey Coastline.

Introduction to Sea Kayaking Week

Utilising the Anglesey and Llyn Peninsular this five day course will give participants an excellent grounding in sea kayak skills. Over five days we will look at developing your core skills and coach you in many areas of boat handling in a wide range of environments. Plenty of journeys on the sea mean you will get opportunities to practice and hone the skills you have been taught. There will also be an element of classroom based teaching looking and basic trip planning, tides, weather and safety at sea.

Sea Kayaking Taster

Try a day of sea kayaking under the watchful eye of one of our coaches. If you are new to kayaking or you have never kayaked before this day will give you a feel for what sea kayaking is all about. A typical taster session will include an introduction to the equipment a chat about safety, basic boat handling skills and a short journey along the coast.

Improvers Sea Kayaking

For those looking to develop their paddling skills and to become a more competent and independent paddler. This course will start to look at handling sea kayaks in slightly more challenging conditions. Over the two days we will introduce you to handling sea kayaks in wind and small swells, along with rock hopping and rescues basic navigation and seamanship will also be covered.

Improvers Sea Kayaking Week

The same theme and aims as the 2 day course but with the opportunity to spend more time on the water and get more trips/sea miles under your belt. Within this week we may aim to head to the Llyn Peninsular to let you experience another stunning part of the Welsh coastline. Boat handling Skills, understanding tides and charts, trip planning and boat selection will all be covered in this course.

Rough Water Boat Handling

A completely practical based course with all available time spent on the water. We will be coaching you through a range of techniques and skills to enable you to become a more competent paddler in rougher, more advanced conditions. We will be looking at dealing with wind, tide, swell and surf as well as tidal races and overfalls. Coaching will be individualised to ensure that clients get the most from the course. Participants are expected to have experience of paddling in force 4 conditions and above and should have a roll.

Moving Water for Sea Kayakers

Let us introduce you to moving water in a safe, controlled and relaxed environment. Over two days you will be guided through boat handling skills to enable you to confidently control your sea kayak in moving water. Using the fantastic tidal flows around Anglesey our coaches will introduce you to the world of tidal races and overfalls.
